Dukus leads Point Mallard over Sugar Land, 7-4

Grant Dukus had one goal and three assists to lead the Point Mallard Ducks to a 7-4 victory over the Sugar Land Imperials.

Dukus beat Colton Anderson with a shot 18:24 into the third period to make the score 7-4 Point Mallard. Brad Reitter picked up the assist. Dukus dished an assist on Matt Goodman's goal that made the score 1-0 Point Mallard at 11:17 into the first period. He then added assists on Killan Gray's goal at 2:22 into the second and on Gray's goal at 4:55 into the third.

Point Mallard outdid its season average for goals scored. The Ducks have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Noah Gilreath, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jaleel Rosemond, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Point Mallard also got a goal from Chris Corgan as well. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Jake Cox and Justin Provencher, who contributed one each and Davis Hudson and Justin Clark, who each chipped in two.

Point Mallard's defense shut down Sugar Land's forwards for much of the game, and the Imperials got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Sugar Land was helped by Matthew Jung, who had one goal. Jung scored on the power play 14:00 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Point Mallard. The Imperials had gotten the advantage when the Ducks' Cox was sent off for roughing. Frank Muscarella assisted on the tally. Aksel Campbell also scored for Sugar Land. More assists for Sugar Land came via Drew Waetjen, who had two and Alex Tilman, Matt DeNure, and Kenny Garrett, who contributed one each.

Roman Bengert rejected 10 shots on goal for Point Mallard. The Ducks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Anderson recorded 23 saves for Sugar Land. The Imperials incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
