Schoenfeld's goals lift Wisconsin to 7-1 victory over West Michigan

Adam Schoenfeld had five goals to lead the Wisconsin Whalers to a 7-1 victory over the West Michigan Wolves.

Schoenfeld's first goal came 11:34 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:07 into the first, at 5:34 into the second, at 9:35 into the second, and at 13:06 into the second.

Wisconsin's Evan Moyse was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 37 saves and let only one puck past him. Moyse managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.54 prior to the game.

The Whalers forced West Michigan's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 57 shots and forcing 50 saves. Hunter Vorva made 31 stops and Kyler Patenaude made 19. Wisconsin excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Whalers outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Wisconsin averages 3.7 goals per contest.

Wisconsin additionally got points from Ryan Martin, who also had one goal and four assists. Wisconsin also got a goal from Kaleb Morley as well. More assists for Wisconsin came via Dan Addie, who had two, Michael Tish and Isaac Hale, who contributed one each, and Alex Anderson and Peter Henderson, who each chipped in three.

The Wolves could not produce up to their normal offensive output. West Michigan averages 3.2 goals per game. The Wolves forced the Whalers goalie Moyse to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

West Michigan was led by Devin Farkas, who scored the team's only goal. Farkas scored 9:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 West Michigan. Michael Tratar assisted on the tally.

Wisconsin incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Wolves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
