Huge game by Johanson boosts Topeka over Dallas, 10-3

Alex Johanson had two goals and two assists to lead the Topeka Capitals to a 10-3 victory over the Dallas Jr. Stars.

Johanson's tallies came at 54 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Topeka and 16:09 into the third to make the score 9-3 Topeka.

Dallas' eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Jr. Stars let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Topeka's offense rang up 47 shots on Dallas' net. The Capitals surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Topeka averages 3.9 goals per game.

Topeka also got points from Kyle Rimbach, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Alex Sauer, who also registered two goals and one assist. Mike Pedersen also scored for Topeka. More assists for Topeka came via Richard Yusa, who had three, Jack Cleaver and Dylan Wattles, who contributed one each, and James Bohan, Tre Kautzman, John Crusinberry, Steve MacIver, and Trey Opack, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Stars were helped by Jordan Schultz, who racked up one goal. Schultz scored 15:05 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Trent Wolter provided the assist. Dallas additionally got points from Aaron Torres, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dallas also got a goal from Blake McIntyre as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dallas were Brandon Baker, Colton Schultz, Josig Rochon, and Connor Perisho, who contributed one each.

Brett Malkmus rejected 13 shots on goal for the Capitals. Topeka incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Chris Mallon recorded 37 saves for Dallas. The Jr. Stars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
