Point Mallard's comeback falls short, Texas wins 4-2

The Point Mallard Ducks almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Texas Jr. Brahmas managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Texas led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jr. Brahmas' Mykyta Sheptytsky scored at 11:09 in the second period to put Texas up 3-0.

The Jr. Brahmas got the win with help from a great game by Devin Pierce, who had two goals and one assist. Pierce scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Nick Nitta picked up the assist. Pierce's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Texas with 11:17 left in the first period. Thomas Puetz assisted on the tally.

Texas also got points from Sheptytsky, who also tallied two goals and one assist. More assists for Texas came via Jimmy Anderson, Brock Brown, and Ryan Dunner, who contributed one each.

Point Mallard was helped by Jake Cox, who registered one goal and one assist. Cox scored 9:37 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Texas. Jake Champaign picked up the assist. Point Mallard additionally got points from Champaign, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Justin Provencher, who had one.

Texas' Joe Hacker stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Jr. Brahmas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Ducks took out David Volkmann after he had made five saves and installed Roman Bengert in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the loss. Point Mallard incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
