Huge game by Reitter boosts Point Mallard over Texas, 7-4NYTEX Sports Center Sun, Jan 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Brad Reitter, who had one goal and three assists, the Point Mallard Ducks defeated the Texas Jr. Brahmas, 7-4. Reitter beat Tristan Canter with a shot 14:37 into the second period on the power play to make the score 5-4 Point Mallard. Point Mallard earned a power play opportunity when Kurt Thiele was put in the box for checking from behind. Grant Dukus picked up the assist. Reitter dished an assist on Justin Dunn's goal that made the score 1-1 at 9:11 into the first period. He then added assists on Justin Provencher's goal at 3:18 into the third and on Dukus' goal at 19:30 into the third.The Ducks' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Point Mallard averages 3.5 goals per contest. Point Mallard also got points from Dukus, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Point Mallard included Jake Cox and Justin Clark, who each put in one. More assists for Point Mallard came via Noah Gilreath, who had four and Jake Champaign, Stephen Coulter, Davis VanGemerden, Chris Corgan, and Matt Goodman, who each chipped in one. Texas was helped by Paolo DiGenova, who tallied two goals. DiGenova scored the first of his two goals at 1:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Anthony Koslow assisted on the tally. DiGenova's next tally made the score 4-3 Texas with 10:59 left in the second period. Koslow picked up the assist. Texas additionally got points from Koslow, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Texas also got a goal from Dixon Whitehead as well. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Jon Grimm, Brock Brown, Mykyta Sheptytsky, and Ryan Dunner, who contributed one each. David Volkmann recorded 13 saves for the Ducks. Point Mallard incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jr. Brahmas took out Quinton Reynolds after he had made 10 saves and installed Canter in goal, where he finished with 13 saves and the loss. Texas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
