Behind a great game by Peter Henderson, who had two goals, the Wisconsin Whalers defeated the Peoria Mustangs, 2-0.

Henderson scored on the power play at 10:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin and again while 19:53 into the third to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin.

Wisconsin was boosted by Evan Moyse, who turned in a shutout with 30 saves. The solid play of Moyse will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.74.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:35 into the first period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

The Whalers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Wisconsin had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Whalers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Wisconsin's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Whalers average 2.9 goals allowed per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Connor Morgan and Nathan Viberg, who contributed one each.

Peoria's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Mustangs had been spending in the box. Peoria was held below its usual level of production. The Mustangs put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game.

Wisconsin registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Whalers, Caleb Voster was ejected from the game. Peoria's starting goalie, Marc Hayton, made 22 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nicholas Piech, who stopped five shots. For the Mustangs, Jack Power Wayvon and Matt McPherson were ejected from the contest.
