The Southern Tier Xpress tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4. A goal by Bo Zinner put Cleveland up 3-1 in the second period, but Southern Tier pulled to within one on Victor McCutcheon's tally 3:33 into the third period. The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by John Barlow, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Barlow scored 18:20 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Cleveland. Tyler Dalton assisted on the tally. The Xpress were unable to stop Cleveland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Lumberjacks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Cleveland bested its season scoring average. The Jr. Lumberjacks average 2.7 goals per game. Cleveland also got points from Zinner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Avery Huibregtse, who also had one goal and one assist, and Dalton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Mitch Renstrom as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Vince Nero and AJ Bogdan, who contributed one each. Southern Tier excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Xpress forced Cleveland goalie Sam Pikus to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Southern Tier was led by Luke Sunde, who finished with two goals. Sunde scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier. Tobias Gabrielsen picked up the assist. Sunde's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Southern Tier with 9:30 left in the third period. Owen Harris provided the assist. Cody Maulsby also scored for Southern Tier. More assists for Southern Tier came via Justin Andriaccio, who had two and Tim Weisgerber and Brandon Desrosiers, who each chipped in one. Sam Pikus made 37 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 41 shots. Cleveland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Xpress' Tyler Geloneck stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
