Metro got the win on the strength of a great game by Zach Koonce, who had one goal and two assists. Koonce scored on the power play 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Metro. The Jets earned a power play opportunity when Blake Hinds was put in the box for interference. Matt Dempsey assisted on the tally.

Metro's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cincinnati power plays. The Jets' defensive play was more effective than usual against Cincinnati.
