Huge game by Wisely boosts Peoria over St. Louis, 6-2

Behind a great game by Austin Wisely, who had one goal and two assists, the Peoria Mustangs defeated the St. Louis Jr. Blues, 6-2.

Wisely scored on the power play 13:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Andrew Scofield picked up the assist. Wisely dished an assist on Marshall Gevers's goal that made the score 3-0 Peoria at 9:15 into the second period. He added another helper on Nathan Scofield's goal that made the score 5-2 Peoria at 12:30 into the third period.

St. Louis' power play was ineffective against Peoria's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Mustangs forced Jr. Blues' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Cooper Cothran made 30 stops and William Hindle made seven. Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Peoria additionally got points from Gevers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kai Barber, who also had one goal and one assist. Peoria also had goals scored by Tyler Shures and Matt Blaszkiewicz, who each put in one. In addition, Peoria received assists from Thomas Kolaz, who had two and Austin Ziakas and Andrej Buchko, who each chipped in one.

Penalties took their toll on the Jr. Blues, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

St. Louis was helped by Nikita Ermilov, who finished with one goal. Ermilov scored 1:03 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Peoria. Alex Klaesner provided the assist. St. Louis also got points from Klaesner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Louis came via Chris Brown, who had one.

Marc Hayton recorded 26 saves for the Mustangs. Peoria incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Jr. Blues incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
