Bozeman falls apart in second, loses to Helena, 8-2

The Bozeman Icedogs allowed the Helena Bighorns to net three goals during the second period and fell, 8-2.

Helena was paced by Brandt Miller, who racked up one goal and one assist. Miller scored 23 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Helena. Johnny Bonta provided the assist.

The Bighorns kept Bozeman's goalie busy throughout the game, and Denijs Romanovskis made 39 saves on 47 shots. Helena surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bighorns have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

Helena additionally got points from Brandon Mills, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Bonta, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Helena included Daniel Liberko, who had two and Nick Trefry and Kendall Bolen-Porter, who scored one goal each. In addition, Helena received assists from Isaiah Sands, Elliot Hopkins, Jay Forbes, Brian Skillicorn, and Blake Babineau, who contributed one each and Matt Mohar and Rory Bock, who each chipped in two.

The Icedogs were led by Ryan Erickson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Erickson scored 9:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Helena. Steven Nisbet assisted on the tally. Bozeman also got a goal from Kyler Chartier as well. More assists for Bozeman came via Kegan Couture, who had one.

Alex Kruger rejected 22 shots on goal for Helena. The Bighorns totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Bozeman totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
