The Cincinnati Swords had trouble finding ways to stop the Southern Tier Xpress, which beat Swords, 8-2. Southern Tier got the win with help from a great game by Tim Weisgerber, who had one goal and two assists. Weisgerber scored on the power play 2:18 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Southern Tier. The Xpress had gotten the advantage when Cincinnati's Alex Olson was sent off for slashing. Philip Grippi picked up the assist. Southern Tier bested its season scoring average. This season, the Xpress average 4.1 goals per contest. Southern Tier also got points from Justin Andriaccio, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Brandon Desrosiers, who also had one goal and one assist, Luke Sunde, who also registered one goal and one assist, Elijah Williams, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Isaiah Crawford, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Luke Grossman, who also had one goal and one assist. Southern Tier also got a goal from Owen Harris as well. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Cody Maulsby, who had two and Tobias Gabrielsen, Mark Sunde, Brian Grant, and Andre Vanlew, who each chipped in one. The Swords forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Cincinnati surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Swords were led by Oliver Ahlberg, who registered one goal. Ahlberg scored on the power play 7:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Southern Tier. A holding penalty on Sunde had put Cincinnati on the power play. Chris Hubbard assisted on the tally. Andrew Bond also scored for Cincinnati. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Brett Mory, Gennadi Zabeline, and Jeff Balow, who contributed one each. Brendan Shuck made 13 saves for Southern Tier on 15 shots. The Xpress totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. The Swords' Brandon Kruger stopped 18 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Cincinnati registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
