Sugar Land rolls over Dallas, 7-2

The Sugar Land Imperials had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Dallas Jr. Stars.

Matthew Jung had two goals and two assists to lead Sugar Land. Jung scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sugar Land. The Imperials had gained a power play chance when Axel Olson was whistled for checking from behind. Frazer Ellis assisted on the tally. Jung's next tally on the power play made the score 7-2 Sugar Land with 10:48 left in the third period. Ryan Worley picked up the assist.

Sugar Land's penalty kill excelled, as the Imperials gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Sugar Land's goal total was higher than its season average. The Imperials average 3.0 goals per game. Sugar Land got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Sugar Land also got points from Matthew Winkle, who also registered one goal and two assists and Worley, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Sugar Land included Spencer Sabourin, Alex Tilman, and Chandler Cole, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Sugar Land were Tyler Sands, who had one and Ryan James, John Cuni, and Matt DeNure, who contributed two each.

The Imperials were unable to stop Dallas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Stars eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Dallas was helped by Aaron Torres, who finished with one goal. Torres scored on the power play 17:56 into the first period to make the score 2-2. The Jr. Stars had gotten the advantage when Sugar Land's Drew Waetjen was sent off for tripping. Tyler Valentin assisted on the tally. Dallas also got a goal from Trent Wolter as well. More assists for Dallas came via Colton Schultz, Wyatt Gentry, and Travis Hall, who each chipped in one.

Timothy OSullivan made 40 saves for the Imperials on 42 shots. Sugar Land incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Chris Mallon rejected 23 shots on goal for Dallas. The Jr. Stars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
