The Southern Tier Xpress had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Cincinnati Swords. Brandon Desrosiers had two goals and two assists to lead Southern Tier. Desrosiers scored the first of his two goals at 19:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Southern Tier. Mark Sunde assisted on the tally. Desrosiers' next tally made the score 4-1 Southern Tier with 18:48 left in the third period. Sunde picked up the assist. The Xpress were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. Southern Tier surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Xpress' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cincinnati power plays. Southern Tier additionally got points from Luke Sunde, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Southern Tier also had goals scored by Cody Maulsby and Victor McCutcheon, who each put in one.
