Peoria outlasts St. Louis, 5-3Affton Ice Rink Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Mustangs gutted out a close 5-3 win against the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nathan Scofield's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Austin Wisely was all over the ice for Peoria, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Wisely scored 19:43 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Peoria. Marc Peters assisted on the tally. In the losing effort, St. Louis was sparked by Tommy Heinzman, who finished with two goals. Heinzman scored the first of his two goals at 16:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Nikita Ermilov picked up the assist. Heinzman's next tally made the score 3-3 with 7:32 left in the third period. Daniel Dunaway assisted on the tally. The Mustangs kept the Jr. Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and William Hindle made 40 saves on 45 shots. Peoria's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Peoria also got points from Scofield, who also registered one goal and one assist and Matt Blaszkiewicz, who also had one goal and one assist. Peoria also had goals scored by Jason Hoehn and Mark Candotti, who each put in one. In addition, Peoria received assists from Chance Homerin, who had one and Levi Armstrong, who had two.
