Brandt Miller racked up one point to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 3-1 victory over the Billings Bulls. Helena kept Billings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Semchak made 31 saves on 34 shots. Others who scored for Helena included Brandon Mills and Matt Mohar, who scored one goal each. More assists for Helena came via Nick Trefry, Kendall Bolen-Porter, Johnny Bonta, and Blake Babineau, who contributed one each. The Bulls stifled the Bighorns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Billings did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bulls average 3.1 goals per game. Billings was led by Josh Pena, who scored the team's only goal. Pena scored on the power play 9:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Bulls had gotten the advantage when Helena's Miller was sent off for tripping. Reed Kaiser provided the assist. Grant Martens made 24 saves for the Bighorns on 25 shots. Helena totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. The Bighorns ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bryan Knesel was ejected from the game. Billings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
