Twin City rips Minnesota, 5-1Exchange Arena Sat, Dec 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Twin City Steel had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Flying Aces. Twin City was led by goalie Robbie Goor, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Goor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.59 entering the contest. Mikko Aho had two goals and one assist to lead the Steel. Aho scored the first of his two goals at 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. David Becker provided the assist. Aho's next tally made the score 5-1 Twin City with 12:31 left in the third period. Alex Egle picked up the assist. Twin City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Minnesota power plays. The Steel's offense rang up 47 shots on Minnesota's net. Twin City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Twin City also got a goal from Mathias Ahman as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Jared Erickson, Chris Skordilis, and Bennett Witta, who contributed one each. The Flying Aces forced the Steel goalie Goor to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Minnesota was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Flying Aces were led by Bradee Thompson, who scored the team's only goal. Thompson scored 12:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Twin City. Blake Neumann provided the assist. Twin City incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Dakota McDonald rejected 42 shots on goal for Minnesota. For the Flying Aces, Lucas Mickelson was ejected from the game.
