Desrosiers' big game bests Toledo in 10-0 Southern Tier win

The Southern Tier Xpress' Brandon Desrosiers had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 10-0 win over the Toledo Cherokee.

Desrosiers scored at 17:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier and again while 18:11 into the third to make the score 10-0 Southern Tier.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:08 into the third period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with five game misconducts.

Southern Tier kept Toledo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Glen Bates made 31 saves on 41 shots. The Xpress' goal total was higher than their season average. Southern Tier averages 4.0 goals per game. The Xpress capitalized on the Cherokee's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. Southern Tier's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Southern Tier also got points from Luke Sunde, who also had one goal and three assists, Owen Harris, who also registered one goal and one assist, Elijah Williams, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Tobias Gabrielsen, who also registered one goal and three assists, and Philip Grippi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Southern Tier included Luke Grossman and Victor McCutcheon, who each put in one. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Tim Weisgerber, Cody Maulsby, and Mark Sunde, who each chipped in one.

Toledo was often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and four majors for 90 minutes in penalty time. The Cherokee surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Toledo's offense operated below its season average. The Cherokee average 3.2 goals per game. Toledo's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. The Cherokee average 2.3 goals allowed per game.

Cody Gibson recorded 23 saves for the Xpress. Southern Tier ended with 59 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors. Team's Justin Andriaccio and Jake Andriaccio were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Toledo registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For the Cherokee, Aaron Roschinsky, Kyler Omey, and Jimmy Howell were ejected from the contest.
