Huge game by Wisely boosts Peoria over Yellowstone, 5-2

Austin Wisely had two goals and one assist to lead the Peoria Mustangs to a 5-2 victory over the Yellowstone Quake.

Wisely found the back of the net 7:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria and again while 13:45 into the first to make the score 2-1 Peoria.

Peoria's penalty kill excelled, as the Mustangs gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Peoria forced Yellowstone's goalies to work in net, ripping 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Lance Knudson made 14 stops and Sean Leahy made 18. The Mustangs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Peoria finished with 44 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Peoria included Levi Armstrong, Marshall Gevers, and Chance Homerin, who each put in one. More assists for Peoria came via Marc Peters, Kai Barber, Mitchell McPherson, Jason Hoehn, and Andrej Buchko, who each chipped in one.

The Quake struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 36 penalty minutes for three opposing power plays.

Yellowstone was led by Sawyer Scanlan, who tallied two goals. Scanlan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Quake had gotten the advantage when the Mustangs' Andrew Scofield was sent off for charging. Mike McCullen picked up the assist. Scanlan's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Peoria with 12:36 left in the third period. Yellowstone was on a disadvantage when Nick Ligocki went off the ice for cross checking. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Max Doner, who had one.

Ross Lipic recorded 22 saves for Peoria.
