Cleveland boosted by Rounds' play in net, beats Nashville 4-1

Alec Rounds had a standout game with 44 saves, and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks beat the Nashville Jr. Predators 4-1.

Cleveland was led by Tyler Houmard, who finished with one goal and one assist. Houmard scored on the power play 14:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Van Wyk was put in the box for checking from behind. Tyler Dalton provided the assist.

Cleveland managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Lumberjacks wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

Cleveland also had goals scored by Avery Huibregtse, Buddy Rose, and Jonathan Dagnal, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Patrick Briggs, who had two.

Nashville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Predators average 5.1 goals per game. Nashville's offense rang up 45 shots on Cleveland's net. The Jr. Predators' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Nashville averages 1.9 goal allowed per game. The Jr. Predators did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time.

Nashville was led by Colton Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored 11:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cleveland. Trent Kulczyk picked up the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Justin Ball rejected 18 shots on goal for the Jr. Predators. Nashville registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
