The Metro Jets tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wisconsin Whalers held on for a 3-2 victory. Wisconsin took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Metro storm back on a Alex Holm goal 11:50 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Alex Anderson was all over the ice for the Whalers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Anderson scored on the power play 16:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wisconsin. A slashing penalty on Zach Koonce had put Wisconsin on the power play. Peter Henderson picked up the assist. The Whalers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wisconsin ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Wisconsin also got points from Ryan Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wisconsin also got a goal from Yves Leemann as well. More assists for Wisconsin came via Nathan Viberg, who had one. In addition, Metro received assists from Tyler Layle, Kyle Shreve, and Graham Day, who contributed one each. Chris Johansen made 22 saves for the Whalers on 24 shots. Wisconsin registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Jake Stephan rejected 17 shots on goal for the Jets.
