Cleveland rips Sugar Land, 5-1

The Sugar Land Imperials had trouble finding ways to stop the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, which beat Imperials, 5-1.

Cleveland was paced by Zack Mlady, who registered one goal. Mlady scored on the power play 11:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks had gotten the advantage when Sugar Land's Donavan Meyer was sent off for hooking.

Cleveland forced the Imperials goalie Colton Anderson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Jr. Lumberjacks' goal total was higher than their season average. Cleveland averages 2.8 goals per game.

Others who scored for Cleveland included Tyler Houmard, who had two and Jonathan Dagnal and Trey Rossbach, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Mitch Renstrom, Aaron Schmitt, John Barlow, and Patrick Briggs, who contributed one each and Avery Huibregtse and Buddy Rose, who each chipped in two.

Sugar Land was led by Chandler Cole, who scored the team's only goal. Cole scored 16:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cleveland.

Sam Pikus rejected 17 shots on goal for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anderson recorded 26 saves for the Imperials. Sugar Land incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
