Opack leads Topeka over Yellowstone, 5-2

The Topeka Capitals' Trey Opack had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Yellowstone Quake.

Opack's tallies came on the power play at 11:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Topeka and 11:35 into the second to make the score 3-2 Topeka.

Topeka's penalty kill excelled, as the Capitals gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Topeka kept Yellowstone's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lance Knudson made 27 saves on 32 shots. The Capitals took advantage of the Quake's penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities.

Topeka additionally got points from Kyle Rimbach, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Hank Roers also scored for Topeka. More assists for Topeka came via Steve MacIver, who had two and Spencer Sabourin, Alex Johanson, Ben Roth, and Colin OConnor, who contributed one each.

Yellowstone was helped by Sean Pilet, who registered one goal. Pilet scored 2:46 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Max Doner provided the assist. Yellowstone also got a goal from Mike McCullen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Josh Neumann, Sawyer Scanlan, and Will Landsverk, who each chipped in one.

Jacob Pelton rejected 27 shots on goal for Topeka. The Capitals incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Quake incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
