Great Falls holds on for 7-5 win against Glacier

Glacier tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but the Great Falls Americans held on for a 7-5 victory.

A goal by Lucas Lomax put Great Falls up 7-4 in the third period, but Glacier pulled to within two on Gavin Lubin's tally 15:30 into the third period.

Dylan Garton had two goals to lead the Americans to victory. Garton's tallies came at 5:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 5:05 into the third to make the score 6-4 Great Falls.

Great Falls forced Glacier's goalies to work without much rest, launching 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Ryan Lund made 26 stops and Nolan Slager made 19. The Americans surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Great Falls has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Americans' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Great Falls gives up 1.6 goal per game. The Americans' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Great Falls finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Great Falls also got points from Lomax, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Marvin Simmons, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Cody Page, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Miles Giorgione also scored for Great Falls. More assists for Great Falls came via Zack Mese, who had four and Michal Kliment, Hunter Garris, Erik Gatson, and Reed Link, who contributed one each.

Glacier kept the Americans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Hauser made 46 saves on 51 shots. Glacier outdid its season average for goals scored. Glacier averages 1.9 goal per game. Glacier got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Glacier found itself short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Glacier additionally got points from Luke Dickison, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Matt Gamblin, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Glacier also got a goal from Karson Frisk as well.

Glacier registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
