The Peoria Mustangs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Wisconsin Whalers. Andrew Scofield was all over the ice for Peoria, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Scofield scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:05 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. The Mustangs had gotten the advantage when Wisconsin's Yves Leemann was sent off for roughing. Marshall Gevers assisted on the tally. Scofield's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Peoria with 9:24 left in the third period. Peoria had taken the advantage when the Whalers' Adam Schoenfeld got sent off for tripping. Nathan Scofield picked up the assist. The Mustangs' penalty kill excelled, as Peoria gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. The Mustangs stifled Wisconsin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peoria forced the Whalers goalie Evan Moyse to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Peoria additionally got points from Scofield, who also registered one goal and two assists. Peoria also got a goal from Austin Wisely as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Chance Homerin, who had one. Wisconsin's offense rang up 33 shots on the Mustangs' net. The Whalers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Wisconsin was led by Peter Henderson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Henderson scored 8:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin. Isaac Hale assisted on the tally. Ryan Martin also scored for Wisconsin. More assists for Wisconsin came via Alex Anderson, who had two. Ross Lipic made 31 saves for Peoria on 33 shots. The Mustangs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Moyse recorded 29 saves for the Whalers.
