Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the West Michigan Wolves defeated the Chicago Junior Bulldogs in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

West Michigan came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Wolves was down 3-1 after a goal by Chicago's Ryan Glennon at 16:37 in the second period. West Michigan knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Corey Siwula at 16:57 in the third period.

Siwula had a great game for the Wolves, netting two goals.

West Michigan stifled the Junior Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Chicago was unable to stop the Wolves from sending pucks towards the net, and West Michigan eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Wolves' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Others who scored for West Michigan included Dakota Ulmer and Austin Buchholz, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan were Hunter Vorva, Josh Somers, Michael Tratar, Sean Smalley, and Devin Farkas, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow West Michigan to score on any of its four power plays.

Chicago was helped by Niko Moulakelis, who had one goal. Moulakelis scored 13:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. Scott Coash Jr assisted on the tally. Chicago additionally got points from Glennon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Max Piper also scored for Chicago. More assists for Chicago came via Jordan Pitlick, who had one.

The Wolves' Vorva stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. West Michigan incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Troy Pierce rejected 34 shots on goal for the Junior Bulldogs. Chicago incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
