Helena vanquishes Glacier in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Helena Bighorns defeated Glacier in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.

Helena came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bighorns trailed 3-1 after a goal by Glacier's Brandon Huntington at 17:59 in the second period. Helena knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Georgy Ostapchuk at 17:25 in the third period.

The Bighorns' offense rang up 48 shots on Glacier's net.

Helena was helped by Blake Babineau, who racked up one goal. Babineau scored 13:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Glacier. Brandon Mills provided the assist. Helena also got points from Mills, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Isaiah Sands, Jay Forbes, Matt Blassic, and Johnny Bonta, who each chipped in one.

Glacier's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game Glacier had been spending in the box.

Glacier additionally got points from Tyler McMahon, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Joshua Larson also scored for Glacier. In addition, Glacier received assists from Luke Dickison, Dustin Foran, Karson Frisk, Blake Evennou, and Brett LeBeau, who contributed one each.

Alex Kruger rejected 24 shots on goal for the Bighorns. Helena incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ryan Lund made 44 saves for Glacier on 47 shots. Glacier registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
