Wisconsin downs La Crosse, 4-1

Will Holtan racked up one point to lead the Wisconsin Whalers to a 4-1 victory over the La Crosse Freeze.

La Crosse was unable to stop Wisconsin from sending pucks towards the net, and the Whalers eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Wisconsin additionally got points from Ryan Martin, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Peter Henderson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wisconsin also got a goal from Connor Morgan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Caleb Voster, who had one and Kaleb Morley, who had two.

The Freeze's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. La Crosse had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Freeze stifled Wisconsin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. La Crosse was held below its usual level of production. The Freeze put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

La Crosse was led by Jace Cseter, who scored the team's only goal. Cseter scored short handed 1:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Freeze were on a disadvantage when Ethan Stafford went off the ice for high sticking. Daniel Toycen provided the assist.

David Volkmann recorded 21 saves for the Whalers. Wisconsin totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. Cameron Scheuren made 36 saves for La Crosse on 39 shots. The Freeze registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
