Hauser stymies Helena, Great Falls wins 3-1

The Great Falls Americans relied on the sparkling performance of Evan Hauser in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Helena Bighorns.

Great Falls was led by Lucas Lomax, who had one goal. Lomax scored 1:50 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Great Falls. Reed Link provided the assist.

Others who scored for Great Falls included Robert Kalata and Marvin Simmons, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Dylan Garton, Hunter Garris, Zack Mese, Lucas Stover, and Adam Apangalook, who contributed one each.

Helena was held below its usual level of production. The Bighorns put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Helena forced the Americans goalie Hauser to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Bighorns found themselves short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Helena was led by Cody Vanthournout, who scored the team's only goal. Vanthournout scored on the power play 5:06 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. The Bighorns had taken the advantage when Great Falls' Lomax got sent off for slashing. Brandt Miller assisted on the tally.

Hauser rejected 32 shots on goal for the Americans. Great Falls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Grant Martens recorded 25 saves for Helena. The Bighorns registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
