La Crosse blows out Chicago, 7-2

The La Crosse Freeze were firing on all cylinders against the Chicago Junior Bulldogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Freeze emerged with a 7-2 win.

Jace Cseter was all over the ice for La Crosse, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Cseter scored 1:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 La Crosse. Ethan Stafford provided the assist.

Chicago's 14 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Junior Bulldogs let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

The Freeze's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. La Crosse surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Freeze kept Chicago's goalie busy throughout the game, and Troy Pierce made 36 saves on 43 shots. La Crosse's goal total was higher than its season average. The Freeze have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

La Crosse also got points from Jared Bromberg, who also had one goal and one assist, Blake Olinyk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Taylor Trapp, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. La Crosse also got a goal from Anthony Miller as well. Other players who recorded assists for La Crosse were Hunter Smith, who had two and Hunter Dragosh, Zach Lawson, and Brit Brothen, who contributed one each.

The Junior Bulldogs were often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. Chicago had been averaging 30.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Junior Bulldogs were helped by Henry Hearon, who registered one goal and one assist. Hearon scored on the power play 10:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 La Crosse. Chicago had gotten the advantage when La Crosse's Dragosh was sent off for roughing. Mike Holmes picked up the assist. Chicago additionally got points from Niko Moulakelis, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Chicago received assists from Toms Taurins, who had one.

Andrew Wagner recorded 18 saves for the Freeze. The Junior Bulldogs registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
