Minnesota rips Alexandria, 6-2

The Minnesota Flying Aces had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Alexandria Blizzard.

Minnesota pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Alexandria was unable to stop the Flying Aces from sending pucks towards the net, and Minnesota eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Flying Aces' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Minnesota averages 2.0 goals per contest. The Flying Aces were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of nine man advantages.

Minnesota was helped by Jake Mullendore, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mullendore scored 13:34 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Minnesota. Ryan Conybear picked up the assist. Minnesota also got points from Bradee Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Minnesota also had goals scored by Jesse Brown and Isak Larson, who each put in two. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Matt Olson, Blake Neumann, Tyler Gallagher, Tyler Arenz, and Colton Jones, who contributed one each and Victor Lombardi and AJ Gullickson, who each chipped in two.

The Blizzard were held below their usual level of production. Alexandria puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Alexandria was led by Tyler Berginski, who had one goal. Berginski scored 16:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Minnesota. Jody Randall assisted on the tally. Luke Pavelich also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Kyle Jones, Zach Fedie, and Nate Mettenburg, who contributed one each.

Kevin OShea made 28 saves for the Flying Aces on 30 shots. The Blizzard's Tanner Elmore stopped 27 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Alexandria registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
