Nashville downs Topeka, 5-2

The Nashville Jr. Predators won 5-2 over the Topeka Capitals.

Nashville's offense rang up 34 shots on Topeka's net.

The Jr. Predators were led by Alex Durand, who had one goal and one assist. Durand scored 8:43 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Nashville. Spencer Marchand assisted on the tally. Nashville also had goals scored by Topi Samuli Aheristo, Jacob Lainesse, Trent Kulczyk, and Kyle Van Wyk, who each put in one. In addition, Nashville received assists from Matiss Gelazis, Zach Greenwood, Dominic Costello, and Colton Anderson, who each chipped in one.

The Capitals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Topeka was helped by Trey Opack, who finished with one goal. Opack scored on the power play 15:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Nashville. The Capitals had taken the advantage when Nashville's Lainesse got sent off for tripping. Alex Sauer provided the assist. Topeka also got points from Sauer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Richard Yusa, who had one.

Justin Ball recorded 19 saves for the Jr. Predators. Nashville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Topeka's Brett Malkmus stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Capitals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
