Southern Tier's Maulsby deadly on offense in 7-5 win against Metro

The Southern Tier Xpress relied on the scoring touch of Cody Maulsby, who netted four goals, to beat the Metro Jets, 7-5.

Maulsby notched his first tally 6:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:22 into the first, at 14:09 into the second, and at 1:10 into the third.

Southern Tier kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kameron Limburg made 37 saves on 44 shots. The Xpress found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Southern Tier averages 3.9 goals per game.

Southern Tier also got points from Justin Andriaccio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Alec Hooper, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Owen Harris, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Luke Sunde, who had two, Brandon Desrosiers, who had three, and Tim Weisgerber, Curtis Carlson, Elijah Williams, Jake Wasem, and Niko Greco, who each chipped in one.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Xpress to score on any of their three power plays.

Metro was helped by Cody Jones, who finished with two goals. Jones scored the first of his two goals at 11:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cooper McLean picked up the assist. Jones' next tally made the score 3-2 Southern Tier with 17:34 left in the second period. McLean provided the assist. Metro additionally got points from Alex Holm, who also registered one goal and two assists and Kyle Shreve, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Pearce Vance, Devin Kelly, Jacob Rutkoske, and Zach Koonce, who contributed one each.

Tyler Geloneck recorded 24 saves for Southern Tier. The Xpress incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
