The La Crosse Freeze relied on the scoring touch of Blake Olinyk, who netted two goals, to beat the West Michigan Wolves, 3-1. Olinyk's tallies came at 13:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 La Crosse and 14:02 into the second to make the score 2-1 La Crosse.La Crosse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow West Michigan to score on any of its three power plays. The defensemen of the Freeze were also effective in the Wolves' zone, and came away with three goals. La Crosse also got points from Jared Bromberg, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. More assists for La Crosse came via Dan Marotz, who had one. West Michigan's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight La Crosse power plays. The Wolves were led by Devin Farkas, who scored the team's only goal. Farkas scored 5:04 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dakota Ulmer assisted on the tally. Cameron Scheuren recorded 21 saves for La Crosse. The Freeze incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. West Michigan's Hunter Vorva stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Wolves incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
