Peoria downs Chicago, 8-5

Levi Armstrong grabbed one point to lead the Peoria Mustangs to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago Junior Bulldogs.

Peoria was sparked by Armstrong, who finished with one goal. Armstrong scored 15:45 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Peoria. Tyler Shures assisted on the tally.

The Mustangs forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Peoria had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Mustangs forced Chicago goalie Troy Pierce to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Peoria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Mustangs average 4.2 goals per contest.

Peoria additionally got points from Chance Homerin, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jason Hoehn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Clayton Layne, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Peoria also had goals scored by Marshall Gevers, who had two and Nick Conner and Andrew Scofield, who each put in one. More assists for Peoria came via Thomas Kolaz, who had three, Joe Power Wayvon and Austin Wisely, who contributed one each, and Kai Barber, Andrej Buchko, and Mark Candotti, who each chipped in two.

Peoria was unable to stop the Junior Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Chicago eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

The Junior Bulldogs were led by Scott Coash Jr, who had two goals. Coash Jr scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:49 into the second period to make the score 4-4. Chicago had gotten the advantage when the Mustangs' Jack Power Wayvon was sent off for fighting. Scott Schroeder provided the assist. Coash Jr's next tally on the power play made the score 6-5 Peoria with 8:35 left in the third period. The Junior Bulldogs played down a man on Niko Moulakelis's elbowing. Others who scored for Chicago included Scott Herbster, Griffin Waters, and Toms Taurins, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Taylor Hamilton, Ryan Glennon, Matthew Adams, and Dane Kalas, who contributed one each.

Nicholas Piech rejected 38 shots on goal for Peoria. The Mustangs registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Troy Pierce made 39 saves for Chicago on 47 shots. The Junior Bulldogs totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
