Stack stymies Metro, Pittsburgh wins 2-1

Jacob Stack stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Pittsburgh Vengeance to a 2-1 victory over the Metro Jets.

Pittsburgh was led by Cody Black, who grabbed one goal. Black scored on the power play 16:58 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Pittsburgh. The Vengeance had taken the advantage when Metro's TJ Krajewski got sent off for slashing. Gavin Cummings assisted on the tally.

Pittsburgh managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vengeance wound up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Pittsburgh forced the Jets goalie Jake Stephan to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Leo Blore, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jake Salak also scored for Pittsburgh. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Michael Straub and Tyler Speis, who each chipped in one.

Metro was held below its usual level of production. The Jets put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Metro was led by Matt Dempsey, who scored the team's only goal. Dempsey scored 16:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Jason Newel picked up the assist.

The Vengeance registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Jake Stephan made 29 saves for the Jets on 31 shots. Metro incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
