Great Falls wins tough contest against Yellowstone, 4-2

The Great Falls Americans gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Yellowstone Quake.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Michael Kliment at 4:45 of the third period.

Great Falls got the win on the strength of a great game by Robert Kalata, who had two goals and one assist. Kalata scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. The Americans had taken the advantage when Yellowstone's Blake Reynolds got sent off for tripping. Austin Krantz picked up the assist. Kalata's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Great Falls with 4:56 left in the third period. Wade Wylie provided the assist.

Great Falls forced the Quake's goalies to work all game long, finishing with 56 shots and forcing 52 saves. Sean Leahy made 52 stops and Lance Knudson made zero. The Americans stifled Yellowstone's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Great Falls also got a goal from Devin Panzeca as well. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Jonathan Carpenter, who had one and Lucas Stover, who had two.

The Quake were helped by Will Landsverk, who racked up one goal. Landsverk scored 12:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. John Scherer assisted on the tally. Yellowstone additionally got points from Scherer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Yellowstone came via Max Doner, who had two.

Lauren Massie recorded 24 saves for Great Falls. The Americans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Yellowstone incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
