The Topeka Capitals had trouble finding ways to stop the Twin City Steel, which beat Capitals, 8-1.

Twin City was led by goalie Robbie Goor, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Goor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.96 entering the contest.

The Steel were led by Paul Stehr, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stehr scored 10:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Twin City. Jesse Brown assisted on the tally.

Twin City kept Topeka's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Malkmus made 29 saves on 37 shots. The Steel found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Twin City averages 4.5 goals per game. The Steel took advantage of the Capitals' penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Twin City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Twin City also got points from David Becker, who also had one goal and one assist and Mikko Aho, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Twin City included Russel Barone, who had two and Jared Erickson and Lance Carney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Twin City received assists from Mathias Ahman, who had two and Aharon Lara, Kyle Wagner, Jon Plaszcz, and Nicholas Campbell, who each chipped in one.

Topeka could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Capitals average 3.1 goals per game.

Topeka also got a goal from Hank Roers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Kyle Rimbach and Steve MacIver, who contributed one each.

The Steel incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Topeka incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
