The Point Mallard Ducks tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Cincinnati Swords would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4.

Cincinnati made the score 6-2 on a goal by Adam Goudelock at 17:03 in the second period, and Point Mallard got as close as 6-4 when Justin Dunn scored 8:37 into the third period.

With three goals and four assists between them, Andrew Bond and Goudelock teamed up to power the Swords' offense. Bond finished with one goal and three assists and Goudelock also notched two goals and one assist.

Cincinnati's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Point Mallard power plays. The Swords bested their season scoring average. Cincinnati has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Swords were also effective in the Ducks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Cincinnati also got points from Goudelock, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Cincinnati included Blake Hinds, Drew Hill, and Tim VanTuinen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Brady Kiplinger, who had two and Jessie Fracassi, Brenden Williams, and Nicholas Lupacchino, who contributed one each.

Point Mallard forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Ducks surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game.

Point Mallard also had goals scored by Chris Lepore and Jaleel Rosemond, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Jake Cox, Davis Hudson, and Matt Darnell, who each chipped in one and Noah Gilreath and Jake Champaign, who contributed two each.

Brandon Kruger made 22 saves for Cincinnati on 26 shots. The Swords incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Billy Wager took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Cooper Seedott who made 10 saves. For Point Mallard, Davis VanGemerden was ejected from the game.
