Great Falls uses big second period to beat Glacier, 8-2

Glacier was within striking distance after one period, but the Great Falls Americans put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-2 victory.

Robert Kalata was all over the ice for Great Falls, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Kalata scored the first of his two goals at 1:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Great Falls. Wade Wylie assisted on the tally. Kalata's next tally made the score 8-2 Great Falls with five seconds left in the third period. A holding penalty on Wyatt Fretheim had put the Americans on the power play. Austin Krantz provided the assist.

Glacier's 16 penalties came back to haunt it, as Glacier let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Great Falls forced Glacier goalie Ryan Lund to work between the pipes, taking 62 shots.

Great Falls additionally got points from Lucas Lomax, who also racked up one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Marvin Simmons, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Wylie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Krantz, who also had two goals and one assist. Great Falls also got a goal from Connor Barta as well. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Arseny Ivanov, Michael Kliment, Hunter Garris, and Nathan Zorbas, who each chipped in one and Lucas Stover and Evan Hauser, who contributed two each.

Glacier's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 15 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Glacier had been spending in the box.

Glacier was led by Jarod Ackerman, who registered one goal. Ackerman scored 18:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. Fretheim assisted on the tally. Karson Frisk also scored for Glacier. In addition, Glacier received assists from Brendan Jester, who had one.

Hauser recorded 20 saves for the Americans. Great Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Lund made 54 saves for Glacier on 62 shots. Glacier registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
