Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Twin City Steel defeated the Minnesota Flying Aces in a shootout 7-6 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Twin City also got a shootout goal from Mikko Aho.

The Steel overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Twin City was down 4-1 after a goal by Minnesota's AJ Gullickson at 16:06 in the first period. The Steel tied things up at 6-6 on a goal by Isak Larson at 12:57 in the third period.

Aho had a great game for Twin City, netting two goals. Aho's tallies came at 9:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Minnesota and on the power play 4:42 into the second to make the score 4-3 Minnesota.

The Steel's offense rang up 46 shots on the Flying Aces' net. Twin City outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Steel average 3.8 goals per contest.

Twin City also had goals scored by David Becker, who had two and Jordan Pitlick and Russel Barone, who each put in one. More assists for Twin City came via Jon Plaszcz, who had two and Mathias Ahman, Paul Stehr, Aharon Lara, Kyle Wagner, Jesse Brown, Jared Erickson, Lance Carney, and Jay Paul, who contributed one each.

Minnesota surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flying Aces have scored at the pace of 2.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Minnesota was helped by Jake Mullendore, who racked up one goal and one assist. Mullendore scored 2:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Minnesota. Bradee Thompson picked up the assist. Minnesota additionally got points from Tyler Leverty, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Victor Lombardi, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Tyler Arenz, who had one.

Robbiei Goor recorded 18 saves for Twin City. The Steel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Flying Aces' Tanner Balk stopped 39 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Minnesota incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
