Pittsburgh outlasts Southern Tier, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pittsburgh Vengeance escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Southern Tier Xpress.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cody Black secured the win for Pittsburgh with a goal in the third period.

Black had a great game for the Vengeance, netting two goals.

Pittsburgh's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Southern Tier power plays.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Michael Straub, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Brennan Osen as well. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Leo Blore, Eli Lynn, and Christian Wilson, who each chipped in one and Nils Markgren and Gavin Cummings, who contributed two each.

Southern Tier was helped by Brandon Desrosiers, who grabbed one goal. Desrosiers scored short handed 15:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Southern Tier. The Xpress played down a man on Curtis Carlson's head contact. Addison Collins assisted on the tally. Justin Andriaccio also scored for Southern Tier. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Luke Sunde and Elijah Williams, who each chipped in one.

Kyle Plantz made 25 saves for the Vengeance on 27 shots. Pittsburgh totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. For the Vengeance, Brennan Conway was ejected from the game. Matt Hatcher rejected 24 shots on goal for Southern Tier. The Xpress incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
