Hawkesbury holds on for 4-2 win against CumberlandRobert Hartley Sports Complex1 Sun, Mar 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Hawkesbury Hawks held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by CJ Stubbs put Hawkesbury up 4-1 in the third period, but Cumberland pulled to within two on Mathieu Plante's tally 16:31 into the third period. Hunter Racine had a great game for the Hawks, netting two goals. Racine's tallies came on the power play at 8:58 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 18:45 into the second to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Hawkesbury forced the Grads goalie Kevin Gollmer to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Hawkesbury also got points from Stubbs, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Liam Alcalde as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Jason Brochu, who had one and Ross Mandigo, who had two. Cumberland was helped by Travis Douglas, who racked up one goal. Douglas scored 2:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Joey Sollazzo picked up the assist. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Roman Cannell and Simon Besner, who each chipped in one. CJ Sharp made 20 saves for the Hawks on 22 shots. Hawkesbury incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Gollmer recorded 33 saves for the Grads. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
