Carleton Place uses early goal to top Pembroke, 3-2

The Carleton Place Canadians took the lead against the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-2 victory.

Carleton Place took over the lead for good with a goal by Andrew Dodson at 6:40 in the first period. Wesley Baker assisted on the tally.

Pembroke's power play was ineffective against the Canadians' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Carleton Place was led by Tyson Stewart, who racked up one goal. Stewart scored 17:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Craig Pefley provided the assist.

The Canadians put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lumber Kings to score on any of their six power plays.

Carleton Place also got a goal from Ryker Killins as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from David Eccles, Vinny Post, and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in one.

Pembroke was held below its usual level of production. The Lumber Kings put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Pembroke was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Stephan Beauvais, who registered one goal. Beauvais scored 13:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Anthony Nellis picked up the assist. Felix Chamberland also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Colton Keuhl, Ryan Casselman, and Cale List, who contributed one each.

Guillaume Therien recorded 20 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Carleton Place ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Lloyd was ejected from the game. Jordan Piccolino made 24 saves for Pembroke on 27 shots.
