GAME RECAP

Gloucester pulls away in second, rolls over Cumberland, 5-0

Earl Armstrong Arena    Fri, Feb 27, 2015

The Gloucester Rangers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Cumberland Grads and clinch a 5-0 win.

Gloucester was led by Jared Leslie, who finished with one goal and one assist. Leslie scored 10:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Dorian Dawson picked up the assist.

The Rangers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. Gloucester surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Cumberland was unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Gloucester also had goals scored by Joey Fallon, who had two and Zachary Borsoi and Jaren Burke, who each put in one. More assists for Gloucester came via Matt Adams, who had two and Diego Gagnon, Max Veronneau, Vincent Guimond, and Nicholas Ngwafusi, who contributed one each.

The Grads were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game Cumberland had been spending in the box. The Grads put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gloucester to score on any of its four power plays. Cumberland did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Grads average 2.3 goals per game.

David Richer recorded 20 saves for the Rangers. For Gloucester, Borsoi was ejected from the game. Kevin Gollmer made 27 saves for Cumberland on 32 shots. The Grads ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Peter Sigouin was ejected from the game.
