Mollot-Hill leads Pembroke to shutout victory over Cumberland

Gabe Mollot-Hill made 25 saves to complete the shutout and led the Pembroke Lumber Kings to a 7-0 win against the Cumberland Grads.

Pembroke got the win behind a great game by Hudson Michaelis, who had two goals and one assist. Michaelis scored the first of his two goals at 12:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Brett du Puy provided the assist. Michaelis' next tally made the score 4-0 Pembroke with 6:59 left in the second period. The Lumber Kings found themselves down a man on Stephan Beauvais's handling the puck. Justin Felhaber assisted on the tally.

Pembroke forced Cumberland's goaltenders to work all game long, getting 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Paul Leger made 17 stops and Kevin Gollmer made 11. The Lumber Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Pembroke was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Lumber Kings average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Pembroke found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Lumber Kings have scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pembroke additionally got points from Jesse Blais, who also registered one goal and one assist, Owen McDade, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Felhaber, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pembroke included Felix Chamberland and Stephen Cooney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Adam Dauda, who had two and Fraser Turner and Adam Beveridge, who contributed one each.

The Grads were held below their usual level of production. Cumberland puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. The Grads were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes.

Pembroke incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
