Pembroke vanquishes Nepean in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Lumber Kings defeated the Nepean Raiders in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

In the losing effort, Nepean was paced by Nicolas Vlahos, who registered two goals. Vlahos scored the first of his two goals at 6:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Adel Zivojevic picked up the assist. Vlahos' next tally made the score 2-2 with 15 seconds left in the third period. Felix Page provided the assist.

Pembroke was led by Anthony Nellis, who tallied one goal. Nellis scored on the power play 3:15 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. A high sticking penalty on Luke McCaw had put the Lumber Kings on the power play. Felix Chamberland picked up the assist.

Pembroke stifled the Raiders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lumber Kings kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Francis Marotte made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Pembroke also got points from Chamberland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Cameron Hughes and Stephen Cooney, who each chipped in one.

Pembroke was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Nepean eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Josh Zizek and Jack Kilrea, who contributed one each.

Sean Green recorded 39 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
