Hawkesbury outlasts Carleton Place, 5-3

The Hawkesbury Hawks and the Carleton Place Canadians were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hawkesbury made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Liam Alcalde at 14:22 of the third period.

Jonathan Cyr was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he registered two goals in the win. Cyr's tallies came on the power play at 9:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury and 11:39 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Hawkesbury also got points from Jason Brochu, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Damien Charette also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Nicholas Centauro, who had two, Reid Murphy, who had three, and Pierre Ouellette, Paul Vella, and CJ Stubbs, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury was unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Carleton Place's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Canadians average 2.1 goals allowed per game.

Carleton Place was helped by Owen Stewart, who grabbed one goal. Stewart scored 15:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Carleton Place. Wesley Baker assisted on the tally. Carleton Place additionally got points from Adam Lloyd, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bryce VanHorn, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Willie Brooks, who had one.

Gunner Rivers made 28 saves for the Hawks on 31 shots. Hawkesbury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Adrian Clark rejected 22 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
