The Cornwall Colts tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Ottawa Senators held on for a 4-3 victory. Ottawa made the score 4-1 on a goal by Carl Faucher at 9:32 in the third period, and Cornwall got as close as 4-3 when Marly Quince scored 17:26 into the third period. Derek Varrin was all over the ice for the Senators, as he registered two goals in the win. Varrin's tallies came at 10:08 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 2:46 into the third to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cornwall power plays. Shawn Lynch also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Sean Rappleyea, Joey Champigny, Thomas Crevier, Zach Car, and Ryan Cranford, who contributed one each. The Colts were led by Nicholas Lalonde, who had one goal and one assist. Lalonde scored 14:53 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Ottawa. Kevin Hope picked up the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Jay DAmour as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Grant Cooper and Ryan Patulli, who each chipped in one. The Senators' Alexandre Savard-Belanger stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Ottawa totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Senators, Lynch was ejected from the game. Cornwall's starting goalie, Denny Dubblestyne, made 21 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brett Nichol, who stopped two shots. The Colts ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Cornwall ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lawson MacDougall was ejected from the game.
