Pembroke holds on for 3-2 win against Nepean

Pembroke Memorial Center    Sun, Feb 01, 2015

The Nepean Raiders tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Felix Chamberland put Pembroke up 3-1 in the third period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Nicolas Vlahos's tally 19:49 into the third period.

Hudson Michaelis had two goals to lead the Lumber Kings to victory. Michaelis scored at 18:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke and again while 13:36 into the third to make the score 2-1 Pembroke.

Pembroke's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nepean power plays. The Raiders were unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

More assists for Pembroke came via Adam Dauda, who had two and Dylan Chase, Jesse Blais, and Cale List, who each chipped in one.

Nepean stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Josh Zizek also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Felix Page, Jody Sullivan, and Benoit Villeneuve, who contributed one each.

Sean Green made 19 saves for Pembroke on 21 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Raiders' John Gilmer stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Nepean incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
