Carleton Place blows out Cumberland, 5-2

The Carleton Place Canadians were firing on all cylinders against the Cumberland Grads, and when the final buzzer sounded Canadians emerged with a 5-2 win.

Carleton Place excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Canadians' offense rang up 36 shots on Cumberland's net.

Carleton Place was helped by Jordan Larson, who racked up one goal. Larson scored 15:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Willie Brooks picked up the assist. Carleton Place additionally got points from Adam Lloyd, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Craig Pefley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Bryce VanHorn and Vinny Post, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Connor Merkley, who had two and Owen Stewart, Devin Campbell, and Stephen Baylis, who contributed one each.

The Grads' offense were handcuffed by the Canadians' defensive play, and Cumberland managed only 13 shots on goal during the game.

The Grads were helped by Joey Sollazzo, who grabbed one goal. Sollazzo scored 11:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Nicolas Mattinen provided the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Martin Frechette as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Travis Douglas, who had one.

Adrian Clark made 11 saves for Carleton Place on 13 shots. The Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cumberland's Paul Leger stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
